MY LANGUAGE MY CLTURE: COMMUNITY LANGUAGE SCHOOL STUDENTS' DIGITAL STORIES
In 2023 ACLS worked with fourteen teachers from six community language schools across the Illawarra and Greater Sydney to complete training in how to create a digital story, from brainstorming ideas and storyboarding a narrative to filming and editing the final piece.
Equipped with these skills, and drawing on project-based learning principles of creativity, collaboration and student-centred learning, the teachers then supported their students to create their own digital stories. Under the theme My Language My Culture, students chose topics that explored their experiences of belonging to multiple cultures in Australia. The stories that emerged are as diverse as the languages, cultures and experiences they represent. We hope you enjoy them!
Thanks to the NSW Department of Education’s Community Languages Schools Program for funding and DigitalStorytellers.com for their support.
